Meet Aurimas Uscinas, one of the key people in the production team at Antiphon. After many years working on the MPM line, he has developed a sharp eye for the details that make a real difference in the final result. In this interview, he shares insights from behind the scenes, what drives him, and how the team works together to meet even the most demanding customer requirements.
# What’s your role at Antiphon and how long have you been in your current position?
– I work as an operator on the MPM line and have done that for about 12 of my 15 years at Antiphon.
# What does a typical workday look like for you?
– My work is all about metal processing based on the customer’s specific needs. And even though our machines are great, we’re dealing with very small tolerances and a lot of technical steps, so it’s not like you can just run a sheet through and grab a coffee haha.
# What’s the most important thing you want customers to understand about your work?
– How flexible and solution oriented we are. Even though our factory is in little Åmotfors, we can make a real difference for the world by improving sound absorption and noise reduction.
# How would your colleagues describe you?
– Oh, I don’t know. I hope they’d say I’m a cheerful guy who chooses joy and laughs a lot. I also think I’m pretty unpretentious and never hesitate to ask colleagues with more experience for help or advice. We’ve got people here who’ve been around for 30 to 40 years.
# What do you appreciate most about the team at Antiphon?
– The honesty within the company. We like solving problems and staying one step ahead of our competitors so we can be a great choice for our customers. Mostly that, but also the sense of joy we have at work.
# What kinds of challenges do you enjoy taking on?
– When we get new products or new applications, new customers, or when tougher requirements are placed on us. Especially when the solution isn’t obvious. Being able to go back to the customer and say that we actually solved it is incredibly fun.
# What do you like to do in your free time?
– I’m a homeowner, so there’s always something to do around the house. Today, for example, I gave the stove a bit of love. My 13 year old son rides motocross, so there’s always something to take care of there too like fueling, changing gaskets, and so on.
# Do you have any hobby or unexpected talent your colleagues might not know about?
– That’s a tricky one… I’m pretty much the type who thinks “if I can, I’ll do it – if I can’t, I’ll try.” But what I hope my colleagues notice is that I’m good at spotting the small details in the process that help us achieve the best possible result.
