AREAS & APPLICATIONS

We contribute to quieter buildings

In buildings, noise problems mainly arise from airborne sound, structure-borne sound and reverberation spreading between rooms, floors and installations. Disturbing noise affects both comfort, working environment and acoustic quality. By combining insulating, damping and absorbing solutions, Antiphon can effectively address noise problems in buildings and help create quieter and more energy-efficient indoor environments.

Airborne sound

Airborne sound is transmitted through the air, for example when people talk, listen to music, or when traffic noise penetrates from outside. Airborne sound travels through walls, windows, doors, and gaps.

To reduce this, Antiphon offers sound-insulating and sealing materials, such as antiphon® LT-F, which are used in joints, wall constructions, and installation zones to prevent sound leakage. Additionally, sound-absorbing products such as antiphon® LA and LA LV are used to reduce reflections and create a more pleasant acoustic environment.

Structure-borne sound

Structure-borne sound occurs when vibrations propagate through the building’s structure, for example from footsteps, washing machines, lifts or ventilation systems.

Antiphon addresses this by using structure-borne sound damping materials, such as antiphon® LD™ pads and MPM™ sheet, which convert vibrations into heat and thereby reduce the transmission of structure-borne sound between different parts of the building.

Reverberation

Reverberation is caused by sound reflecting between hard surfaces in a room, which can make the environment noisy or difficult to communicate in.

To address this, Antiphon offers sound-absorbing materials that are used in ceilings, walls, and interior panels. These materials capture sound waves and reduce the reverberation time, thereby improving the acoustics in, for example, offices, schools, and public spaces.
